Chef: Sam Bracken

The Facing
West Restaurant in historic Lake City, Colorado
Executive Chef
Sam Bracken:
Sam and Lisa Bracken had
been a welcome fixture on the Denver gourmet dining scene for
many years. Sam and Lisa's extensive experience in the culinary
arts coupled with their drive to excel lead them to the western
slope.
In 1999, Sam and Lisa
Bracken took more than 30 years of accumulated experience in
the Restaurant business to Lake City, Colorado. Sam and Lisa
purchased the vacant, historic Lake Fork Restaurant and totally
renovated it. The finished product is the tony, Facing West
Restaurant, a labor of their mutual love for fine food and exquisite
dining.
Lisa explains that when
Sam stepped over the threshold of the old Lake Fork, he had
an epiphany. Sam adds, "Right through the front door I
just knew that this was the place for us to be."
Bracken adds "Getting
to do this kind of Restaurant way up here, in this location,
with this view, puts it all in perspective. We knew that if
you have quality food, service, and setting, people will come."
And people are coming, for fantastic, innovative cuisine, special
evening events, wine dinners and live entertainment.
As Executive Chef and
owner, Sam Bracken prepares fantastic
gourmet cuisine at Facing West nightly. With a penchant for
fun and exciting menus and innovative pairings of classic San
Juan cuisine, wild game and fine wines, Sam and Lisa entertain
while guests dine in the romantic shadows of the Uncompaghre
Mountains.
Its hard to choose which
one facet of this fantastic restaurant keeps guests coming back
to Facing West; whether it is the romantic ambiance, professionally
appointed tables, expansive deck, overwhelming views, or just
the unbelievable cuisine - Sam and Lisa's vision have led the
Facing West to become a premier dining establishment, changing
the local dynamic and raising the bar for fine dining in and
around southwestern Colorado.
